VIISA launches inaugural startup batch

8 teams chosen from 150 applications from Southeast Asia

The Vietnam Innovative Startup Accelerator (VIISA) launches its inaugural batch with 8 startups in the program. VIISA is a partnership of Dragon Capital, FPT and Hanwha Investment.

Applications for the program started last September and more than 150 companies over Southeast Asia applied.

Usedata helps online sellers optimize visual merchandising through their product analysis platform

Wefit provides you access to more than 100+gyms and fitness classes with their monthly subscription plan.

Wisepass is a mobile app with a subscription plan. For 6 million VND per month, members get to enjoy a bottle of spirits or wine, every single night,  at quality bars and restaurants.

Mr LE Hoang Anh, Chairman of VIISA and Managing Partner of Dragon Capital says “We are delighted to support the government’s goal of 50,000 startups. Our 8 shortlisted teams have the quality to create an impact in Vietnam and beyond.”

VIISA Kick Off

Mr Sangyeop KANG, Investment Officer at Hanwha Investment said, “Vietnam is a fast growing market and we believe that startups have the opportunity to innovate new products and services here. We believe that through the VIISA acceleration program, we are able to create value for the country.”

Mr Adrian TAN, Program Director of VIISA says, “I believe it is the first time in this region that 3 corporations come together to fund and operate an accelerator program of this scale. I am grateful and excited for this opportunity to work with talented founders and to show the world that great startups exist here in Vietnam.

VIISA will invest US $15,000 into each company and US$15,000 worth of technical resources, office accommodation and access to more than 100+ world class mentors and investors. Promising teams will also get up to of $200,000 of follow-on funding

The teams will present their pitches in a Demo Day in March 2017 to invited investors.
